Obituary

Robert Michael "Buddy" Cleary died early Friday, September 21, 2018 after a long illness, at his home, with his family present. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, William Cleary Jr and one sister, Clara Mehl, RN.

He was born November 25, 1935 in Okay, OK to W.R. and Tressie Cleary. He attended Okay School and enlisted in the U.S. Army at the age of 22. Following his active service Buddy served seven years in the National Guard. He was a member of the International Union of operating Engineers for thirty years. His father owned and operated his own garage in Okay, OK and taught Buddy how to be a fantastic mechanic, carpenter, welder and electrician. He appreciated his talents. Buddy retired at the age of 73 years.

Buddy married Virginia Faye Meeks fifty years ago, and she will always cherish his memory. Other survivors include two daughters, Charity Faith Moravek and husband, Richard Moravek and Mitzi Lynn Bowser and husband, Mark Bowser, all of Porter, OK; two sons, Mike Cleary of Tallahassee, FL and Kelly Cleary of Arkansas; one grandson, David Ott and wife, Ellen Ott of Tulsa, OK, along with other family members and friends.

Family and friends will gather for a Visitation Friday evening from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Mallett Funeral Home and Crematory, 417 East Cherokee Street, Wagoner, OK.

The Funeral service to celebrate Buddy's life will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, September 29, 2018 in the Chapel at Mallett Funeral Home and Crematory, 417 East Cherokee Street, Wagoner. The Reverend Scott Gordon with Miller Hospice will officiate.

Interment will be in Three Rivers Cemetery in Okay, OK, when Military Honors will be provided by Donaghe-Elliot, Post 56 of the American Legion. Pallbearers will be Joshua Drake, grandson-in-law, David Ott, grandson, Barry Cunningham, family friend, Richard Moravek, son-in-law, Barry Coyle, family friend and DeWayne Goodman, nephew.

The family wishes to express their deeply felt appreciation to Miller Hospice for their special service and dedication to providing care to Mr. Cleary and the family during his last illness.
