Robert J. Felts was born October 15, 1923 in McAlester, OK to Phillip T. and Margaret (Ogilvie) Felts. When he was a young child the family moved to Tulsa where he was raised and graduated from Will Rogers High School, class of 1941. Robert served in the United States Army during World War II and at the young age of nineteen took part in the landing at Omaha Beach in Normandy. Bob and Blanche married in Little Rock, AR and soon moved to Tulsa, and later to St. Louis, MO, with his position as an electrical engineer with AT & T. After his retirement in the spring of 1979, Bob and Blanche moved to Wagoner to make their home and became members of the First Baptist Church. Robert departed this life at his home on Sunday, January 11, 2009, at the age of 85 years, 2 months and 27 days. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister and brother. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Blanche Felts; a daughter and her husband, Phyllis and Curtis Pryor of Langley, OK; two grandsons; two nephews, including Paul Steven Nourse; and his friends. The graveside funeral service for Bob will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, January 13, 2009, in the Apostles Section of Floral Haven Cemetery in Broken Arrow, OK. The Reverend Mark Pointer will officiate. Members of the DAV will provide military rites. Honorary pallbearers are Tony Gilford, David Whisnant, Joe Murdock, David Redfern, Frank Cooper and Gerald Smith.
