Ronald "Ron" Gene Edwards was born March 17, 1957 in Pryor, Oklahoma to Lonnie Edwards and Dorothy (Simpson) Fletcher. He was raised in Locust Grove, Oklahoma and graduated from Locust Grove High School. He married the former Cheryl Ann Ball on November 1, 1985, and they began a marriage that lasted thirty-two years. Ron served in the United States Navy from 1986 until 1990, when he received an honorable discharge.

He was a mason and worked in construction. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially when fishing for crappie, his favorite, or catfish, or hunting for deer or coon.

Ron departed this life early Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at his home in Wagoner, OK at the age of 60 years, nine months and three days. He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Casey Edwards.

Survivors left to cherish him memory include his loving wife, Cheryl Edwards of Wagoner, OK; two sons and their spouses, James and Kathryn Edwards of Hominy, OK and Jared Edwards and Tabitha Brumfield of Wagoner, OK; a daughter and her husband, Jessica and Christopher Cross of Ulysses, KS; three granddaughters; eight grandsons; his siblings and their spouses, Kathy and Garland Thompson of Little Rock, AR, Cindy Detlefs of Evergreen, CO, Dan and John Edwards of Fort Gibson, OK and Becky and Scott England of Pryor, OK; Elisabeth Branam of Blanchard, OK, who was like a granddaughter; his mother-in-law, Barbara Simpson, and her husband, Jim Simpson, who was like a brother to Ron; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

The family will hold a memorial service at 1:00 pm Friday at the home of Becky and Scott England, 604 North Elliott Street, Pryor, OK.

Cremation is under the care of Mallett Funeral Home and Crematory.
