Rosie Maxine Payton was born July 29, 1927 in Glassco, Missouri to Steven Jake and Rosie (Avery) Hellinger. Rosie moved with her family to Oklahoma at an early age. She worked as a school crossing guard and as a caregiver. Rosie's giving and helpful nature was shown in her dedication to the children and adults for whom she was responsible. Her family recalls how she had a talent for growing plants and flowers of all kinds. Two of Rosie's favorite pastimes were fishing and playing bingo. She was a longtime member of the Wagoner Church of God. Rosie departed this life to her heavenly home on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at the Wagoner Care Center at the age of 86 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Teddy Calvin Payton; her parents; four brothers, Andrew, Jesse, Russell and Jake Hellinger; and two sisters, Dorothy Cobb and Katherine Wiley. She is survived by one daughter, Marion Elaine Bivins; one son and daughter-in-law, Ted J. and Cynthia Payton; one granddaughter, Michele Binfield and her husband, Marc; two grandsons, Noah and Micah; great-grandchildren, Shelby Binfeld and Aiden Payton, all of North Carolina; one brother, Paul Hellinger of Iowa; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. A visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Mallett Funeral Home in Wagoner. A graveside funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at Pioneer Cemetery in Wagoner, Oklahoma. The family suggests that memorial donations may be made to benefit the fight against juvenile diabetes.
