IN LOVING MEMORY OF

"Bo" Phillips
December 6, 1925 – October 11, 2017
Roy Beauregard "Bo" Phillips was born December 6, 1925 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Emit L. and Lois (Lundy) Phillips. He graduated in 1943 from Central High School where he was a member of the track team. He attended OU briefly before enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps February 24, 1944. He served his country with honor during World War II.
Following his honorable discharge on August 1, 1946 Bo moved to Stillwater and enrolled in OSU, then called Oklahoma A & M. Although raised in the city, Bo had been called to a life in the country. He earned a bachelor's degree in animal husbandry, and in 1949 he and wife Kay moved to their first home in the area, about five miles west of Wagoner, and became members of Holy Cross Catholic Church. Early on Roy ran a dairy and sold dairy equipment. He later introduced the first longhorn cattle to this area, and was interviewed by Rick Wells about his enterprise. Mr. Wells was quick to film the longhorn decoration on the front gate of an OSU cowboy.
Bo was the State Farm agent for this area for many years and also a real estate broker and appraiser. Although, as a businessman he wore many hats, his first love was the cattle business. In the 1970's he became a member of an investment club, an interest he enjoyed all his life. Bo was an active and contributing member of his community. He served on the Wagoner School Board, the Lake Region Electric Board and was a member of the Wagoner Lion's Club and the Cattlemen's Association.
Roy departed this life on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 91 years, 10 months and 5 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emit and Lois Phillips; a son, Steve Phillips; his first wife and mother of their six children, Katherine (Brown) Laird; his second wife, Faye (Hodges) Phillips; and an older brother, Ralph Phillips.
