Roy Wayne Pennington was born March 26, 1940 in Beaumont, Texas to Pete and Sadie Lee (Walker) Pennington. He grew up in Illinois and later served in the United States Army. He was an ironworker and before retirement owned and operated his own ornamental irons business. He had made Wagoner, OK his home since 2007. Roy passed from this life on Thursday, August 15, 2013 in Wagoner at the age of 73 years, 4 months and 20 days. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grand-daughter, Tracy; a son-in-law, Eric Walker, and his three sisters, Virginia, Nevada and Edith. Survivors include his children, Tom Berry and wife, Linda of Monee, Illinois, Glenda Walker of Coweta, OK, Shawn Elliott and husband, Fred of Chicago Heights, Illinois and Dwight Pennington of the home in Wagoner; seven grandchildren, Diana, Jimmy, Nicole, Danny, David, Fred II, and Nevada; ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; other relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at Mallett Funeral Home Chapel in Wagoner. Following cremation, Roy will be laid to rest at Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma. Mallett Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
