Ruby Ruth (Smith) Posey Mead was called home to Heaven on August 1, 2024.  She was 91 years young.  She was born on February 14, 1933, in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Rufus and Edith (Falwell) Smith.

Ruth loved playing sports.  She enjoyed playing basketball and tennis in high school.  She graduated from Okay High School.

Ruth married her High School sweetheart Richard Posey Jr., and they had 3 children. She retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company after 35 years. In the summer of 1983, she married Leon Mead.  Ruth had countless other jobs.  She never sat still. In January of 2024, she left Mahylon's BBQ resturaunt after 27 years as Kitchen Manager.  She loved watching her grandchildren play their sports.

Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Leon Mead; parents, Rufus and Edith Smith; grandson, Richard Posey IV; son-in-laws, Ron Davis, Jr.  Cantrell and Bobby Williams.

Ruth is survived by her three children, Richard Posey III and his wife, Dawn of Chouteau, OK, Jane Williams of Okay, OK, and Debbie Cantrell of Okay, OK; grandchildren, Nick Davis and his wife, Melody of Okay, OK, John Posey of Pryor, OK, Reno Davis of Claremore, OK, Autumn Moore of Inola, OK, Dallas Davis and his wife, Dana of Fort Gibson, OK, CJ Cantrell and his wife, Britany of Okay, OK, and Nathan Posey of Claremore, OK; great-grandchildren, Courtney Davis, Ashley Davis, Brandon Davis and his Fiance, Brittany, Diezel Davis Charlotte Posey, Natalie Turner, Bryar Cantrell, Remmington Posey, Preston Davis, Brogyn Cantrell, Brileigh Cantrell, and Avery Davis; great-great grandchild, Oaklynn Davis; sister, Lou Ann Reeves; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A Viewing will be held on Monday, August 5, 2024, from 11 am to 6 pm in the Chapel of Mallett Funeral Home and Crematory, Wagoner, OK.

The family will greet friends at a Visitation in the Chapel of Mallett Funeral Home and Crematory, Wagoner, OK on Monday, August 5 from 6 to 8 pm.

The Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at 11 am at Greenhill Cemetery Pavilion in Muskogee, OK.
