Funeral services for Ruby Hagans Sherrick, 54, of Wagoner will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 15, 2010 at the Mallett Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Dr. Wesley Graver officiating. Interment will be in Bennett Addition of Elmwood Cemetery with bagpipes playing "Amazing Grace". Pallbearers for Mrs. Sherrick will be Rex Sherrick, Robert Sherrick, Brad Sherrick, John Moore, Mike Stefenson and Paul Menafee. Honorary pallbearers will be Wes Sherrick, Tully Choate, Gordon Short, Jerry Mauldin, James Forbes and Ricky Short. The family will receive friends at a Visitation from 5-7 p.m. Thursday evening at Mallett Funeral Home, who is in charge of arrangements. Ruby was born July 19, 1956 in Wilson, North Carolina to her parents, David and Elsie (Stancil) Hagans. She grew up and spent her early life in North Carolina. In 1985, Ruby was united in marriage to Les Sherrick, and they moved to Osage, Oklahoma before settling in Wagoner. She worked as an accountant for Special Service Systems in Tulsa for many years. Ruby was a member of the Toastmasters Club in Tulsa and loved a variety of activities, from riding motorcycles, fishing and golfing, to crocheting and cooking. Her greatest enjoyment came from time spent with family and friends. Surrounded by her family, Ruby peacefully passed away Monday, October 11, 2010. Ruby was preceded in death by her father and by her brother, Henry Stancil. She is survived by her husband, Les, of the home; her daughter, Rebecca Elizabeth Webb and her son, Arthur David Sherrick, both of Tulsa; her mother, Elsie Hagans, and her companion, James Forbes; two sisters, Amy Short and her husband, Ricky of Wilson, all of North Carolina, and Judy Moore and her husband, John, of Gloucester, New Jersey; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives, friends and her special dogs and granddogs'.
