Ruby Frances (Shelton) Smith was born on August 2, 1927, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Robert Jackson and Della (Crail) Shelton. She departed this life on April 5, 2023, in Cordell, Oklahoma at the age of 95 years. Frances worked at a couple of jobs in her life, but her main one was being a homemaker and taking care of her seven children.
Frances had several hobbies throughout her life. She liked to crochet and enjoyed fishing and metal detecting. Frances appreciated a good book.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Terry Dale Cooper and Jackie Otis Cooper; a grandson, Christopher Ryan Cooper; all of her siblings, Jessie Mae "Susie", Lloyd Jackson, Thomas Lee "Tom", Ida Bell, Opal Lucille, James Allen "Jim", Floyd Edward, Delois Ruth "Dee" and Billy Dee; and a son-in-law, JR Mathis.
Those left to cherish her memory are her surviving children and their spouses, Larry Wayne Cooper of Vian, OK, Judy Lynn Mathis of Edwards, MO, Karen Anita and Greg Turner of Cordell, OK, Kathy Eleta and Joe Hitchcock of Spavinaw, OK, and Roy Clay and Georgette Keho of Moncks Corner, SC; eight grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and other family and friends.
The funeral service celebrating Frances' life will be held on Monday, April 10, 2023 at 1:30 pm at Mallett Funeral Home Chapel in Wagoner, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. Viewing will be on Monday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
