Russell Lee Ward was born March 15, 1935 in Woodward, OK to Edgar Ward and Ina (Barnett) Ward Ackley. For many years R.L. owned and operated clubs in the area. He departed this life on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at his home in Porter, OK. His parents, his son, Randall, in 1995, an infant son, and his brother, Everett Ward, all preceded him in death. Survivors include a son, Allen Powell Ward of Muskogee; two daughters, Debbie Ann Ward of Oklahoma City and Sandra Kay Ward of Tulsa; a sister, Betty Jeffress and her husband, Charles, of Topeka, KS; seven grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews; other relatives and his friends. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at the Elmwood Cemetery in Woodward, Oklahoma. The Rev. Father Thomas will officiate.
