Ruth Anna (Letterman) Foster was born on March 8, 1931, to William Robert Letterman Sr. and Anna Johanna Serene (Anderson) Letterman at their farm home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. She was raised on the family farm and attended and graduated from Coweta High School. She met the love of her life, Carl Junior Foster, and they were married on May 8, 1953. Together, they shared nearly 60 years of marriage before Carl’s passing in 2013, serving as a true example of enduring love.

Ruth was big-hearted and deeply caring, a trait reflected in her lifelong love of animals. She loved raising animals and took great joy in caring for them throughout her life. Her devotion began at a young age with her Rat Terrier, Tootie, when she was just two years old. She especially cherished her peacocks, guineas, and all other animals, treating each with kindness and affection. Above all, Ruth dearly loved her family and treasured the time spent with them. In addition to her love for animals, she enjoyed painting, with a particular fondness for oil paintings, which allowed her creativity and gentle spirit to shine.

Ruth departed this life at the Covenant Care Home in Salina, Oklahoma, with her loving family at her side, at the age of 94 years. Preceding her in death are her parents, William and Anna Letterman; her husband, Carl Junior Foster; her son, Alan Foster; her grandson, Chris Little; her brother, William Robert Letterman Jr.; her sister, Norma Jean Dobbins; and her brothers-in-law, James Wilson and Ralph Mahan.

Those left to cherish the many fond memories of her life include her children, Kyle Foster of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Randy Foster of Chouteau, Oklahoma; David Foster and wife, Joaney, of Chouteau, Oklahoma; and Phillip Foster and wife, Deanna, of Chouteau, Oklahoma; her grandchildren, Jeremy Foster (Melinda), Melissa Foster, Tara Little, Jordan Foster, Laura Harris (Jake), Jonathan Slayton (Liz), Anthony Salcido (Magan), Chayden Foster (Brie), Cass Cagle (Holly), Aubrey Applegate (Jeremy), Haleigh Foster, Deondra Fritz (Justin), and Colton Foster; her great-grandchildren, Jason Foster, Danielle Foster, Jase Harris, Jolee Harris, Kyler Slayton, Karsen Phorn, Riggs Foster, Rye Foster, Rhys Foster, Lane Cagle, Lucy Cagle, Luke Cagle, Landree Applegate, Tripp Applegate, Karsyn Standingwater, Lawson Standingwater, Mason Standingwater, Kodah Fritz, Ella Salcido, Sadi Salcido, Laila Salcido, and Emmet Salcido; her sisters, Martha Joe Wilson and Luella Mahan; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, all who will miss her greatly.

Ruth will be missed immensely by all who knew and loved her, and her legacy of love, kindness, and compassion will continue to live on through her children and grandchildren for generations to come.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Covenant Care Home for the exceptional care provided to Ruth, with a special thank you to Malissa Nation for her compassion and dedication.
