Ruth Aleene (Cook) Newberry, lifelong Porter resident, departed this life Saturday, January 23, 2021 at her home, at the age of 93 years. Ruth was born September 8, 1927 in Clarksville, OK to Alfred Miles Cook and Alta Agnes (Macomb) Cook. She married Clifford Scott Newberry on July 6, 1950. They enjoyed a long and happy marriage for 63 years until his death in 2014. Ruth's parents and a sister, Mildred Lucille Cole also preceded her in death.

Ruth was a registered nurse and was employed at the Veterans Affairs Hospital for 27 years, until her retirement in 1987. She and her husband were members of the United Methodist Church in Porter, OK.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Teresa Kay (Newberry) Roberts and John William Roberts; one son, David Neal Newberry; a granddaughter, Chelsea Renee Roberts; a nephew, Roy Cole; other extended family and friends.

Family and friends may call at Mallett Funeral Home in Wagoner for viewing Thursday from 9 am-7 pm.

The graveside funeral service will be at 2 pm Friday, January 29 at the pavilion in Greenhill Cemetery in Muskogee. The Rev. Dr. Paul Vickery will officiate.
