Ruth (Womack) Shockley was born November 23, 1915 in Texarkana, Arkansas to Walter Edwin and Nora (Bodie) Womack. She was a junior high school teacher of English for many years before her retirement. Ruth taught mostly in Artesia and lived for many years with her husband, Ed Shockley, in Ruidoso, New Mexico. She was a member of the Ruidoso Library Board and enjoyed attending theatre. She was a member of the United Methodist Church. Ruth died Tuesday, May 15, 2012 in Muskogee, Oklahoma at the age of 96 years, 5 months and 22 days, the last of her generation within the family. She had been making her home in Wagoner, Ok near her niece, Patsy Hayes and her husband, Roy. Her husband, Ed, preceded her in death in 1981. Survivors include numerous loving nieces and nephews. A graveside memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jay 21, 2012 at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Ruidoso, New Mexico.
