Funeral services for Minlee Ruth Wood, 90, long-time resident of Okay, OK will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 17 at the First Baptist Church in Okay. Ruth was born Oct. 15, 1918 in Tuskahoma, OK to her parents, Ord and Augusta (Hill) Swaim. When she was 13 her family moved to Okay where she graduated from high school. In 1939 she was married to William H. Wood, a union lasting 55 years until his death in 1994. A homemaker, Ruth also worked for many years as a cook for the Okay Schools. She was a long-time and devoted member of the First Baptist Church in Okay. Ruth enjoyed gardening and growing flowers and was famous for her homemade candy. She passed away Wednesday, Oct. 14 at the Pleasant Valley Health Care Center in Muskogee. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 2 sons-in-law, Bobby Pofahl and Ron DeLue; a grandson, Bryan DeLue; a great-grandson, Eli Shiflet; a sister, Verna Epperson and 3 brothers, Vessie, Jack and Burl Swaim. She is survived by her children, Lynda Pofahl, Janice DeLue, Ken Wood and his wife, Ruth all of Okay, Sue Herrington and her husband, Randy of Broken Arrow, Joe Wood and Mary Oslin and her husband, David of Muskogee; 17 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; 3 sisters-in-law, Ella Swaim of California, Golda Robbins of Yukon, OK and Nokie Johnson of Sallisaw, OK; numerous loving and caring nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
