IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sandra Ann
Chase
November 27, 1941 – July 14, 2024
Sandra Ann Miller Chase
November 27, 1941- July 14,2024
Sandra was born in Claremore, Oklahoma on November 27, 1941, to Ocie Lee (deer clan) and Samuel Lee (wind clan) Miller. She passed away in the home her father Samuel built in 1973 on the land her family has had since 1898 on July 14, 2024. Sandra was a proud citizen of the Mvskoke Nation and member of the deer clan.
Sandra was married to Abel Chase in 1962 and with him until his death in 2000. She had four children, Tina Renee, Merle Lee, Walton Cole and Sarah Whitebird. Both of her sons preceded her in death. Her two daughters Tina and Sarah cared for her in the final years of her life.
Sandra lived an extraordinary life. Sandra was born into a hardworking, smart, loving, and fun family. Her parents and childhood had long lasting effects on how she saw and lived life. She started from humble roots and ended up as a successful business owner. Family, friends, and nature were always her priorities. Anyone who knew her always knew to ask her how her wild animals were doing. One of the best memories her grandchild has of her is the nightly feeding of the neighborhood racoons. The raccoons would come right up to the back door, wave and ask to be fed. Sandra was known to feed any of the animals around her, racoons, skunks, turtles, rabbits, cats, and of course her favorite, the deer in the back field.
Sandra earned her BA from Redlands University while working two jobs and raising a family. She always admired education and learning. A trait passed on to everyone in her family. She worked at Rockwell, her favorite job for twenty one years before leaving to help her husband start a business. Sandra set up the entire infrastructure of the business and made it the success that it was for thirty four years.
The most important quality Sandra felt and demonstrated was kindness. She was always willing to give her time, visit with people, listen when anyone needed it and always show up for the people she loved. And of course she did this with humor and great one liners. She had an empathy that could make people feel at ease and laugh. One of her more underappreciated qualities, she had an incredible sense of humor.
Sandra is preceded in death by her husband Abel Lockwood Chase, her son Merle Mikko, her son, Walton Cole, her parents Samuel and Ocie.
Sandra is survived by her daughters Tina Renee Chase of Dana Point, CA, Sarah Whitebird Chase of Duvall, WA, her grandchildren, Jordyn Tafvhvtke of Seattle WA, Jaylin Ecuce of Duvall, WA, Tillman Mikko of Duvall, WA, brother Doyle of Canton, MI, nephews Greg, Steve, and Lindsey, nieces Jennifer and Joanna of MI, Great nieces and nephews, Jake, Ava, Sam, Ben, Seth, and Amy.
She will be greatly missed by the people whose lives she touched over her lifetime.
