Obituary

Shirley Hettie (Sehesteot) Hays was born May 13, 1934 in Wayne, Nebraska to Ralph and Hettie (Martin) Sehesteot, and departed this life on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 in Tuscon, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Dale and a sister, Vera. Shirley was one of the finest of women. She donated every ounce of her energy to helping everyone around her. She led a life of selflessness and love and of being loved. Shirley was a member of the Rebecca's and volunteered her time at the Red-Cross and the Wagoner Community Hospital for twenty years. She dearly loved to travel and saw a lot of the world. She stayed in touch with everyone she met, and hand wrote over 150 Christmas cards every year. Shirley was married to her husband, David Hays for 50 wonderful years and served the role of an Air Force wife for 18 years before they retired in Wagoner. She leaves behind her husband, David; 4 children: Teri, Ralph, Kathy, and Mark; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and thousands of people she cared for all of her life. Friends and family will gather for a Visitation from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday evening at Mallett Funeral Home in Wagoner. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at the Mallett Funeral Home Chapel. The Reverend Francis Berka of Hillcrest Freewill Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will be at 12 p.m. at Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.
