Stephen Rex Smith was born August 11, 1948 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Ernest Rex Smith Jr. and Patricia (Bishop) Smith. Stephen was married to his loving wife of more than 46 years, the former Linda Sisco, when they eloped on May 3, 1968, later marrying in a traditional church ceremony on May 31, 1968. Before his retirement in August 1999, Stephen enjoyed a career in education, culminating in his service as a middle school principal for the Broken Arrow Public Schools. Stephen attained a Master's Degree from Tulsa University. In his spare time he loved driving in the SCCA Formula 500 Racing. Stephen departed this life on January 11, 2015 in Broken Arrow, OK at the age of 66 years and 5 months. He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia (Bishop) Smith and grandmother, Alice (Bishop) Stockstill. Survivors include his wife, Linda Smith, of the home; two daughters, Stephenie Rasmussen and husband, Rodney and Melanie Cole and husband, David; a brother, Larry Smith and wife, Sheila; grandchildren, Marissa, Madilyn and Matthew; and uncle, Bill Bishop and wife, Theresa, and their children, Billy, Ailene, Cyndi and Matt. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 15, 2015 at the Calvary Cemetery Chapel in Tulsa, OK. The Reverend Father Gary Kastl will officiate. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
