IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Thurman Gale
Pelt
April 27, 1927 – October 8, 2017
Thurman Gale Pelt, 90, a long-time resident of Wagoner, Oklahoma, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, October 8, 2017. Thurman was born April 27, 1927 in Beggs, Oklahoma to Letha and Gresham Pelt. They preceded him in death, along with his beloved Uncle Harvey Pelt, his sister Melva "Pat" Wallace and brother Marvin Pelt.
Thurman is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marian Pelt of Tulsa; his son, Steven Pelt and wife Danita of Broken Arrow; daughter Susan Randall, husband Brad, and grandson Joshua all of Tulsa.
As a child, Thurman suffered from osteomyelitis, which left his leg in a severely weakened state, but this never slowed him down. Thurman graduated from Okmulgee High School and attended the University of Oklahoma. During this time, he began working for Safeway, a part-time job that turned into a career of over 42 years. He retired from his Store Manager position in 1986 to enjoy 31 years with his family. He was an avid OU football fan, a gifted carpenter and artist, and all-around Mr. Fix-it.
Thurman's service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, October 13, 2017 at Mallett Funeral Home in Wagoner with Brad Randall officiating. The family will receive visitors from 12:00-1:30 pm prior to the service. Viewing will be from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm on Thursday. Private interment will be at the Tahlequah City Cemetery.
