"Demp" Earls
September 28, 1936 – April 16, 2021
Urbia Dean "Demp" Earls was born September 28, 1936 in Summerfield, OK, the youngest of ten daughters born to Urba and Georgia (Hayes) Brown. She grew up working in her father's sawmill, bailing hay and picking cotton. Her love for the outdoors and nature stayed with her throughout her life. She felt was mandatory to maintain vegetable and flower gardens every year.
Urbia had a great talent for math and numbers which she passed on to members of her family. Following graduation from Le Flore High School Urbia attended Poteau Jr. College where she earned an Associate's Degree. She used her gift for numbers with a career in bookkeeping. She was employed at Sertoma in Tulsa, OK for 17 years.
Urbia met the love of her life, Delbert "Sonny" Earls, when they were still children. They attended high school together, and she and Sonny were married October 9, 1954. They were happily married for nearly 67 years. They were affectionately known as "Sonny and Demp"
Urbia departed this life early Friday, April 16, 2021, at her home in Wagoner, OK at the age of 84 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Urba and Georgia Brown; all her sisters; her elder son, Steven DeArmon Earls and a grandson, Ryan Scott Earls.
Her loving family who survive her include her husband, Delbert DeArmon "Sonny" Earls of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Patricia Earls of Coweta, OK; grandchildren, Christopher Williams, Dustin Earls, Keri Lynne Hattenhauer and husband, Rick, Wesley Kyle Earls and Staff Sergeant Kurtis Austin Earls, U.S.M.C.; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 1 pm Wednesday, April 21 at the Summerfield, OK Cemetery in LeFlore County, Oklahoma.
