Funeral services for Vada Cantrell, 82, long-time resident of Wagoner will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 8 at the Mallett Funeral Home Chapel in Wagoner with the Reverend Jess French officiating. Vada was born Aug. 26, 1930 in Park Hill, Oklahoma to her parents, Henry and Beatrice (McCuistion) James. She grew up and attended school in the Welling and Stone Chapel, Oklahoma area. She was united in marriage to Clifford M. Cantrell. Vada enjoyed gardening, and was very artistic refinishing furniture and painting. She passed away peacefully Wednesday July 3 at Grace Nursing Center in Tahlequah. Vada was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clifford Cantrell; her step-son, Melvin Cantrell; four brothers, Francis Frank' James, William James, Andrew James and Jesse James and a sister, Artie Judd. She is survived by her children, Clifford Junior' Cantrell and wife, Debbie of Okay, Carolyn Jones and husband, Russell of Wagoner; a step-son, Gene Cantrell of Okmulgee; a step-daughter, Glenda; a brother, Alfred James of Tahlequah; two sisters, Trudy Kline of Wetumka and Mary Sampson of Tulsa; five grandchildren, Chad Cantrell and Lisa, Kim Boyd and Russell, Rus Jones and Marla, Melinda Park and J.D. and C.J. Cantrell and Britany; twelve great-grandchildren, T.C. Cantrell, Colton Cantrell, Erin Williams, Ashton Boyd, Heath Jones, Shelby Jones, Haley Jones, Kalley Jones, Cassidy Cates, Logan Cates, Corey Park and Briar Cantrell; two great-great-grandchildren, Trenton and Brodie Cantrell; other relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons, Chad, Rus, C.J., T.C., Heath, Shelby and Colton. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Kessinger, Jess Copeland, Larry Blevins and Ralph Hamby. Funeral arrangements and interment in the Boudinot Cemetery in Cherokee County are directed by Mallett Funeral Home of Wagoner.
