VinJan Smith was born August 8, 1954 in Tampa, Florida to Vincent and Janet Smith. She was raised a "military brat", and later joined the U.S. Army where she served as a nurse. Following her service time, VinJan worked as a certified nursing assistant in both hospital and nursing home settings. Before moving to Wagoner, OK to make her home VinJan lived in Biloxi, Mississippi and El Dorado, Arkansas.

VinJan loved music. She could play several instruments, particularly the guitar, and she had a beautiful singing voice. She also liked to paint and write.

VinJan departed this life early Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Hillcrest Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, just after her 64 ^th birthday. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Robin Smith.

Survivors include three children, Peter Kyle King of the home, Karen Wortman and her husband, Larry and an older son, Israel; a sister, Gayle; nephew, Matthew Davis and her friends, Kenneth and Willa Mae Novacek of Wagoner, as well as other extended family and friends.
