Obituary

Viola Louise (Cossey) Rogers was born May 3, 1929 in Oklahoma City, OK to Joseph Harrison and Margaret Louise (Rotert) Cossey. She married Kenneth Charles Rogers on September 30, 1949. They both worked in public service: Viola worked in Civil Service, and Kenneth served in the military for 37 years. During that time Viola established a new home for her family twenty-two times when the Kenneth was reassigned all over the world. Needless to say, Viola and her husband were very close during the 56 years of their marriage. They spent a great deal of time in the San Antonio and Yoakum areas of Texas when Kenneth was stationed at Kelly Field in San Antonio. Viola was active in her community; she enjoyed activities such as volunteering at the museum and participating in the Literary Club.

Viola departed this life on Saturday, July 9, 2016 in Wagoner, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Charles Rogers; her parents; all of her brothers and sisters; and a great-grandson, Blake Hopkins.

Survivors include her son, Calvin Rogers of Bastrop, Texas; her daughter and son-in-law, Susan Lynn and Victor Ashbrook of Wagoner, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Rebecca Turner, Tara Paider, Jennifer Turner and Brittany Zabcik; great-grandchildren: Patty Hibbard, Kenneth Turner, Lyndsey Hartfield and Ethan Paider; great-great-grandchildren, Julian Simmons, Conner Simmons and Daisy Mae Hartfield; other relatives and friends.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, July 18, 2016 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas. The Reverend Terry Cossey will officiate. The family will serve as Pallbearers.
