The funeral service for Violet Mae (McFarland) Baker will be held at 10:00 am Monday, Mary 7, 2018 at Elmwood Cemetery in Wagoner. Mr. Travis Sloat will officiate.
Mrs. Baker was born February 25, 1932 in Wagoner, OK to Vird and Cora Leigh (Glass) McFarland. She was a graduate of Wagoner High School.
She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church in Okay. A dedicated Sunday school teacher, Violet attended the church nursery for twenty years and then move up to the three and four years old class for another twenty years. She loved children, and, of course, her loved her grandchildren most of all.
Violet loved to garden and was very good at growing both flowers and vegetables.
Her special companion later is life was her beloved dog, Sherman.
Violet is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie Baker and Jack Thornburg and Donnie Lynn Baker and Brad Mathews, all of Okay, OK; grandchildren, Cora Rose Echols and husband, Steven, and their child, Trigger Dean Echols, Johnny Glen Moran, Jr. and wife, Franchel Freeman, and their children, Calleigh Freeman and Arlo Moran, Britain Moran and fiancé, Skylar Blackwell, and their child, Keighton Moran, Colton Thornburg, Braden Lambert and wife, Chelsie Gans and their children, Trinity Gans and Derrick Gans, and grandson, Hawk Mathews; also, one sister, Tillie Williams; extended family and friends.
Violet was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Clyde Baker; her parents; two brothers, Dee McFarland and Jimmy McFarland; and two sisters, Lena Bishop and Jean.
