Obituary

Virgil Neal Dobbins was born September 25, 1930 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Virgil Albert and Ona Margarite (Neil) Dobbins. He attended Porter schools and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a farmer all his life and was employed also at Braden Winch, Wagoner County, and in the peach orchards. He was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and a Porter resident until he moved to Broken Arrow, OK twelve years ago. Mr. Dobbins died Friday, October 21, 2011 in Broken Arrow at the age of 81 years, and 26 days. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include two sisters, Elizabeth George of Pryor and Ann Childress of Broken Arrow; seven nieces and nephews, and numerous other relatives and friends. His family will always remember Virgil as a caregiver who took care of his father for many years and his sister through her illness. He was always kind and giving to all. He liked to read his Bible every day. He liked Bluegrass and Country Music and enjoyed Bingo. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at the Church of Christ in Porter, OK. Mr. Scott Keele will officiate. Pallbearers will be Jim Hogan, Roy Essary, Roy Cole, Chris Childress, Brent Childress and Bill Tackett. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Porter, OK. Arrangements are by Mallett Funeral Home in Wagoner.
