Virginia Pearl (Cannon) Brandon was born December 12, 1918 in Morris, Oklahoma to John and Rebecca (Hubbard) Cannon. She married Claude Brandon at a young age, and they began a life together that lasted until his death in 1995.

Virginia was a hard worker and a woman with many of the skills traditional to a homemaker. She was a member of the Vann's Lake Home Demonstration Club for many years.

Her family recalls how she enjoyed planting flowers and a vegetable garden, canning and freezing the bounty from her plantings. She also helped take care of the dairy, including milking the cows and raised chickens and sold eggs as well.

Her artistic talent was expressed in her sewing skills. She was an excellent seamstress, producing clothing that seemed to come from the retailers.

Virginia departed this life to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 9, 2022, having attained the extraordinary age of 103 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Rebecca Cannon; a daughter, Mary Alice Mounce; grandson, Roger Mounce; three sons-in-law, Harry Douglass, Wayne Caffey and Jack Allen and all of her siblings.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Barbara Douglass of O'Fallon, Illinois, Dorothy Caffey of Pryor, Oklahoma, Jan Allen of Afton, Oklahoma and David Brandon of Porter, Oklahoma; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; many nephews and nieces, especially Cookie Brandon, who was so helpful with her care; other extended family and friends.

She will be remembered at a funeral service Thursday, October 13, 2022 at 10 am in the Chapel at Mallett Funeral Home in Wagoner, OK.

Viewing will be from 9 am until 7 pm Wednesday.
