Wanda Kay (Neel) Jones was born December 11, 1945 in Mazie, Oklahoma to James Dwight and Virginia Beth (Burns) Neel Atchley. She grew up in Mazie and attended school there through the 8th grade and then transferred to Wagoner High School. Although she was a very serious student, Wanda found time to be a cheerleader and FFA queen. After graduation from Wagoner High School Wanda attended Northeastern State University, earned her bachelor's degree, and became a teacher. She taught school for thirty years in Wagoner's Ellington and Central Elementary Schools. She had the heart of a true servant, always able to put others' needs before her own needs or wants. Wanda was a devoted wife to Ronald Jones, whom she married on July 2, 1965, and a loving mother to her two children, John and Janet. They have been longtime members of the First Baptist Church. Wanda's faith and her relationships with her family and friends were the cornerstones of her life. She was a very easy person to please. She loved gardening, vegetables and flowers, cooking, sewing, reading, and traveling with her family and being an active member of the Starlight Extension Group. Wanda Jones died early Saturday, January 18, 2011 at her Wagoner home, just five weeks after her 65th birthday.
