IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Wanda Joyce
Karr
January 5, 1931 – April 20, 2023
Wanda Joyce Cieloha Karr was born January 5, 1931 in Haskell, Oklahoma to Charles Stanley Cieloha and Tinnie L. Morgan Cieloha. The family moved to Porter in 1941 where Wanda and her 8 siblings attended Porter School where she graduated high school in 1949. Wanda worked as a professional administrator for several companies including American Airlines and Weyerhaeuser. She met Merrill E. Karr Jr. and they were married in 1964 and moved to Alvin, Texas for his job. While in Texas, Wanda was saved in 1977 and baptized by Reverend Ed Russell of First Baptist Church Alvin and then attended South Park Baptist.
When her mother became ill, the couple moved back to Porter in 1986, built a home and became members of First Baptist Church Porter where Merrill served as a deacon. After his death in 1991, Wanda became the church secretary for ten years. She had many friends and family around Porter and enjoyed traveling and helping raise her nieces and nephews.
In November 2005, Wanda moved to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma into a patio home in the Baptist Village Retirement Center. She joined the First Baptist Church of Broken Arrow where she made wonderful friends in her Sunday School class, sang in the Joy Choir and played handbells. It's during this time that she also volunteered at the church and the Baptist Village, the Oklahoma Baptist Disaster Relief Team and Arms Around Broken Arrow.
She loved to travel and took two trips to Israel and many places around the United States. She even got her family members to tag along. She was always busy serving others in some way. When asked what she believed her greatest accomplishment was, she said becoming a Christian. She entered into her heavenly home on April 20, 2023 at the Owasso Baptist Village, living a very long life of 92 years and ready to meet her Savior Jesus.
She is preceded in death by her father; Charles Stanley Cieloha, her mother Tinnie L. Morgan Cieloha; two brothers Charles Stanley Cieloha Jr and JD Cieloha; her husband Merrill Karr Jr; four sisters Mable Christine Cieloha, Mary Catherine Damme, Charlene Baehler, and Naomi Irene Spalding; two nephews Jimmy Douglas Cieloha and Cole Baehler.
