Wanda Lee Nickel was born December 10, 1927 in Carmen, OK to Adam Lee Melrose and Esther (Gaylor) Melrose. Wanda loved her family dearly and enjoyed her role of wife, mother and grandmother. She especially enjoyed sewing. Wanda's sweet and loving personality will be greatly missed by family and friends. She always prayed for others, no matter what their need.

She was a longtime and faithful member of Immanuel Southern Baptist Church where she filled many roles through the years. She played the piano at church for 37 years and took care of the prayer chain. Wanda loved her church family and enjoyed working in the church kitchen with her friends.

Wanda will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She departed this life to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Prairie House in Broken Arrow, OK at the age of 95 years. There is comfort to be found in the faith that she was welcomed by her parents, Adam and Esther Melrose; her husband, Alferd Nickel; her son, Jerry Nickel; many of her brothers and sisters and a son-in-law, Harold Compton.

Her family who will cherish the memory of Wanda include her two daughters, Sherry Compton of Jenks, OK and Michelle Goins and husband, Tim Goins of Broken Arrow, OK; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; a stepbrother, Gary Booze; other extended family and friends.

A celebration of life was held on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at 10 a.m. at Immanuel Southern Baptist Church in Wagoner, Oklahoma. Reverend Rick Boyne officiated. Interment followed at Elmwood Cemetery.
