Wanda Faye Petersen was born August 12, 1930, one of two twin girls born to Frank and Pearl (Belle) Smith. The family included Wanda, who was called Jackie, and Wilma, called Billie by the family, along with two other sisters, Betty and June.   Mrs. Petersen was raised in the Porter area and graduated from high school. She was a self-employed investor.

Her family will always remember with fondness her great musical talent; she could sing so well that the family always told her she could have had a career, and she was an accomplished guitarist and pianist. Mrs. Peterson loved eating out and always had dessert.

Wanda Petersen departed this life Friday, March 4, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada, where she recently moved back from Wagoner, OK, her home for a number of years. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Dwayne McCain and George Petersen; two sons, Michael McCain and Jack McCain; her parents, Frank and Pearl Smith, and sisters, Betty Deerinwater and June Hale, and her twin, Wilma, who died at an early age. The family finds comfort in knowing that they are all together again.

She is survived by three children: Charlotte Mitchell and her husband, Robert; Gwendolyn McCain, and Dennis McCain; nine grandchildren: Dena Donovan, Julie McCain, David McCain, Adam McCain, Kristan McCain, Sandy Hay and husband, Tim, Rusty Dawn Smith, Payton McCain, and Michelle McCain; numerous great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

The funeral service for Mrs. Petersen will be at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at Mallett Funeral Home Chapel in Wagoner, OK. The Reverend Julie McCain will officiate.

Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Porter, OK. Pallbearers will be Scott Raymond, Payton McCain, Dennis McCain, Gary Blackwell, Adam McCain and Steven Shelby.
