The funeral service for Wanda Faye Rhodes will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at the Chapel at Mallett Funeral Home and Crematory, 417 East Cherokee Street, Wagoner, OK. Officiating will be the Reverend Rex Hendrickson and Pastor Aaron Doan.

Interment will be in the Hulbert Community Cemetery, Hulbert, OK, with the Reverend Bobby Botts officiating.

Wanda Faye Waits was born December 27, 1937 in the Ray Community near Hulbert, OK, one of ten children born to George and Bertha Lee (Thornburg) Waits.

Wanda attended Hulbert High School where she played basketball, a sport she continued to enjoy watching all her life.

Wanda married Kermit Franklin Rhodes, and they began a long and happy life together raising their four children, Keith, Dwight, Bruce and Sheila. Her family will always remember what a wonderful cook she was and how they enjoyed the holiday meals and family times. As the family grew she loved to be with her grandchildren and always attended their sport activities.

Wanda worked for twenty-eight years at Prestolite as well as other positions, including produce manager at Carter's. All the while she kept a meticulous house. Her hard work ethic was instilled in each of her children.

Wanda accepted the Lord as her savior at Ray Mission Church, which she attended until her health prevented her attendance. She favored bluegrass and gospel music and enjoyed many years listening to Kermit's when he played and sang at the church.

For the past three years Wanda made her home at Brookdale Assisted Living in Tahlequah, OK. The family is appreciative of the care provided to her there.

Wanda departed this life Saturday morning, May 25, 2019 at the age of 81 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kermit Rhodes; her parents, George and Bertha Waits; and siblings, Alvin Waits, Clyde Waits, Talmage Waits, Juanita Colson, Clifford Waits, Norma Jean Long and Pauline Daniels.

Her loving family who survive her include three sons and daughters-in-law, Keith and Belinda Rhodes, Dwight and Connie Rhodes and Bruce and Janice Rhodes; one daughter, Sheila Young; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; a brother, Sammy Waits; sister, Corrine Hammer; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
