Funeral services for William A. Bill' Spriggs, 86, life-long resident of the Wagoner area, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 14, 2008 at the Immanuel Baptist Church in Wagoner with the Reverend Rick Boyne and the Reverend Willie Rice officiating. Bill was born Jan. 17, 1922 at his family home in rural Wagoner to his parents, Henry Alex and Mamie Ellen (Geurin) Spriggs. He grew up and attended school in the Wassom Chapel area east of Wagoner. His loving marriage of over 65 years to Doris Olvey began on August 3, 1942. Later that same year he began his service to his country in the U.S. Army Air Corp. Bill started his long career of 30 years with Bell Telephone installing and maintaining office phone systems. He worked in downtown Tulsa, much of the time at the First National Bank Building. Bill was also a homebuilder and constructed many of the homes in the Toppers lake area near Wagoner. He enjoyed much of his retirement outdoors, camping and especially crappy fishing. Surrounded by his family, Bill passed away Tuesday, June 10 at his home near Wagoner. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Andy Spriggs and by his sister, Florence Fuller. He is survived by his wife, Doris of the home; his daughter, Jan Hambrick and her husband, John; his son, Mark Spriggs and his wife, Phyllis all of Wagoner; grandchildren, Shelley Graham, Jenna Kaye Hambrick and Collin Spriggs; great-grandchildren, Colt Wesley Howard and Wyatt Logan Flocks; two brothers, Roy and Charlie Spriggs both of Wagoner; two sisters, Lee Smith of Nampa, Idaho and Phyllis Rizzo of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers for Mr. Spriggs will be Gary Spriggs, Ted Spriggs, Dan Spriggs, Johnny Spriggs, Rob Rizzo and Don Rizzo.
