Obituary

The Funeral Service to celebrate the life of Dr. William Russell "Bill" Homan will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at First United Methodist Church, 308 Church Street, Wagoner, OK. The Reverend Terry Presley will officiate. Eulogist will be Dr. Jack Aldridge.

Friends and family will gather Tuesday evening from 5:00-7:00 pm for a Visitation at Mallett Funeral Home and Crematory, 417 East Cherokee Street, Wagoner. Viewing will begin at 10:00 am Tuesday and continue until 7:00 pm.

Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Eufaula, OK, with Masonic Rites being conducted by the Eufaula Masonic Lodge #1.

William Russell Homan was born November 28, 1953 in Muskogee, OK to Arlene B. (Zmotony) and Sam L. Homan, who both preceded him in death.

Bill grew up in Wagoner and graduated from Wagoner High School in 1972.  He earned a bachelor's degree from OSU in 1976 followed by a teacher's certification from NSU in 1977. Bill completed his education at the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN from 1978-1982. He returned to his hometown of Wagoner and began his professional career as an optometrist, retiring October 31, 2018 after thirty-three years of dedicated service to his patients.

Bill married the former Debera K. "Debbi" Munday on June 5, 1976. They were blessed with two children, their son, Matt Homan of Wagoner and daughter, Jenny Homan of Wagoner, and one grandson, Knox Keener.

Bill was a long time member of First United Methodist Church in Wagoner. In his spare time Bill enjoyed fishing and flying remote control airplanes.

Bill was a devoted member of the Eufaula Masonic Lodge #1, the Tulsa Scottish Rite, a 32 degree Mason, a Bedouin Shriner and was Past Master of Wagoner Masonic Lodge #98.

Dr. Bill Homan departed this life Friday, June 21, 2019 at his home in Wagoner, OK at the age of 65 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Debbi Homan of the home; son, Matt Homan of Wagoner; daughter, Jenny Homan of Wagoner; grandson, Knox Keener of Wagoner; extended family and many friends who will miss him. All would agree that, "He did his best."

In lieu of flowers, it was Bill's request that memorial donations be made to the American Liver Foundation or the Duke/Mayo Liver Research.
