William "Sonny" Whitekeller was born November 22, 1922 in Hulbert, Oklahoma to William and Lena (Hadley) Whitekiller. He attended and graduated in 1942 from Chilocca Agricultural School in Chilocca, OK. He enlisted and served in the United States Marine Corps. Before his retirement Sonny owned and ran his own dozer service, with part of his work being contracted by the ASC to dig ponds in the area. He and Marjorie have been members of the United Methodist Church for many years. Sonny was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing several times a week. Sonny departed this life on Friday, November 2, 2012 at Hillcrest South Hospital in Tulsa, Ok, just 20 days before his 90th birthday. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Opal King, and two brothers, Bob and Calvin Whitekiller. Survivors include his wife of nearly 69 years, Marjorie June Whitekeller of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Rita Whitekeller of Broken Arrow, OK; a daughter and son-in-law, Debra Jean and Gary Grabler of Portland, Oregon; a brother, Chris Whitekiller and wife, Laverne, of Wagoner; a sister, Betty Page and husband, Jesse, of Wagoner; his step-grandchildren, Mike and Misty Pratt of Broken Arrow and Lisa and Jon Kirkwood of The Colony, TX; three great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, many cousins and other relatives and many friends. The funeral service for Sonny will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at Mallett Funeral Home Chapel in Wagoner. The Reverend Carl Murphy will officiate. Pallbearers will be Pug Cobb, Charles Fielden, Jerry Hickman, Jack Lewis, Larry Morgan and Alva Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Barney, Mark Day, Brent Edwards, James Jennings, Jack Limon, Leon Nichols, and Mike Pratt. Interment will be in Pioneer Cemetery in Wagoner.
