Obituary

Funeral services for Wilma (Yates) Tackett Miner Spears, 84, former long-time resident of Wagoner will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 11, 2009 at Maple Park Christian Church in Wagoner with the Reverend Preston Beeks officiating. Pallbearers will be John Yates, Don Yates, Roger Tackett, Brian Tackett, Bob Tackett and David Mason. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Wagoner. A visitation will be held from 5-7 PM Friday evening at Mallett Funeral Home. Wilma was born December 31, 1924 in Wagoner to J.W. and Osa Lee (Martin) Yates. Wilma grew up in Wagoner where she graduated from high school. She and her family lived in Tulsa, where she worked in the offices of Douglas Aircraft. In 1965 they returned to Wagoner and Wilma began her career with Wagoner Public Schools. She worked in the office and later became Treasurer for WPS, retiring in 1988. During her time in Wagoner Wilma was a member of the Rebecca Lodge, the Elks Lodge, a founding member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and a charter member of the Maple Park Christian Church of Wagoner. Moving to northwest Arkansas, she continued to be involved with the Senior Center and a member of the Farmington Baptist Church. Wilma departed this life on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 in Fayetteville, AR. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, J.C. Tackett; her husband, Ervin Miner; her brothers, Doyle, Harley, Cecil and Vernon Yates; her sister, Rema Stephens and an infant son, Jimmy Tackett. She is survived by her husband, Clark Spears of the home; her daughter, Sharon Guinn and her husband, Jimmy, of Cassville, Missouri; her grandchildren, Rebecca Hurlburt and her husband, Chuck, of Farmington, Wayne Feterly of Wagoner and Leanna Foche and her husband, John, also of Farmington; her great-grandchildren, Jordan and Samantha Hurlburt, Kaitlyn Feterly and Haley and Caleb Foshe; her brother, J.W. Yates Jr. of Wagoner; her sisters, Mary Sue White of Odessa, Missouri and Jerrie Payne of Shawnee, Oklahoma; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
