Zackie Roy Waits, better known as Zack, was born on October 17, 1960, the youngest of 13 children, to George Alvin Waits and Dorthay (Luellen) Waits in Muskogee, Oklahoma.  He departed this life on Friday, October 31, 2025, at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 65.

Zack attended and graduated from Hulbert High School with the Class of 1979. Zack met the love of his life, Jerri Sue Dail.  The two were married in 1984 at Hulbert First Baptist Church, beginning a lifelong journey filled with devotion, laughter, and unwavering faith.  Their marriage stood as a shining example of true love, built on friendship, respect, and a deep bond that only grew stronger through the years.  Together, they shared a life full of joy, compassion, and mutual support, inspiring all who knew them.

Zack enjoyed the outdoors and all the adventures it offered.  He loved fishing, hunting, especially raccoon hunting, riding horses, camping, and boating.  He had a deep appreciation for simple pleasures and time spent in nature.  Above all, Zack cherished his grandchildren and the precious moments he shared with them; they were truly the light of his life.  He also had a passion for buying antiques and resale treasures, though Chris often joked that the "resale" part never quite worked out.  Zack was a talented carpenter by trade, taking great pride in his work and the projects he created with his own hands.

Preceding Zack in death are his parents, Alvin and Dorthay Waits; father-in-law, Jim Rainbolt; son-in-law, Stanley Goins; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim and Linda Waits, George Alvin Jr, and Lacrisha Waits, Acie and Mildred Waits, Troy Waits, and Kelly Waits; his sister, Debbie Barnett; and sister-in-law, Cindy McCully; and brother-in-law, Kimper Kissee.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Jerri Waits; along with his children, Leiah Fortner Goins of Hulbert, OK, Matthew Waits and wife, Lara of Topeka, KS, and Chris Waits and wife, Ashley of Wagoner, OK; his grandchildren, Carson, Conlee, Ophelia, Madaline, and Wyatt; his great-grandchildren, Paisley, Harper, and Kendra; his siblings, Larry Waits and wife, Judy, Bonnie Kissee, Clydean Autry, Rick and wife, Carla Waits, Dennis Waits, and Orena Waits; his mother-in-law, LaJuana Korte and husband, Denny; step mother-in-law, Georgia Rainbolt; brother-in-law, Chuck Clark and wife, Anita; his sisters-in-law, Jamie Brixey and husband, Jeremy, and Brenda Jimenez.

Zack will be fondly remembered for his quick wit and his contagious laugh, which will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Family will greet friends and relatives at a Visitation on Monday, November 3, 2025, from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm in the Chapel of Mallett Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Life honoring the life of Zack Waits will be held in the Chapel of Mallett Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at 11:00 am.  Justin Jimenez will officiate.

Interment will follow at Hulbert Community Cemetery, Hulbert, Oklahoma.  Those serving as casket bearers are Joe Shroff, Chris Waits, Matthew Waits, Jeremy Brixey, Jeremy White, Harold Lazear, Mark Cluff, and William Alverson.  Those serving as honorary casket bearers are Carson Waits, Conlee Waits, Jonah White, Judah White, and Jerry Hill.

After the committal service at the cemetery, the family invites everyone to come and have dinner with them at the Cherokee Community Center in Hulbert Oklahoma,
