Obituary

Brenda Gale Dean was born January 14, 1944 in Los Angeles County, California to Aretta Della (Mitchell) and Edward Needham Williamson. She was raised in McAlester, OK on a farm and graduated from Crowder High School. While there Brenda was named county conference all-star in basketball in 1961 and 1962. Brenda was raised in a musical family. She had many fond memories of the family playing music together, Brenda playing the trumpet, her sister playing piano and her dad could playing almost any instrument. Following high school Brenda attended secretarial school and learned keypunch as well.

It was in high school she met and fell in love with Raymond Douglas Vaughn, her high school sweetheart. The family remembers stories of how Doug would go to her place, or she would go to his, so they could help finish their chores and be free to spend time together. They were married and had three children, Raymond, Cheryl and Leanna. Brenda married her second husband with whom she had two sons, Joseph and Jess. Brenda later married Mac Dean, and she welcomed his sons, Ray, Rick and Billy to her family.

Brenda made her home in Porter, OK the past 42 years. Although her role as homemaker was the most important thing in Brenda's life, she worked outside the home several times, including for Anderson Wholesale in Muskogee, OK for seven years and as a cashier for Homeland for ten years. She and Mac worked together in Porter, OK, running their peach orchard, Dean's Orchard, for seventeen years.

Brenda's life centered on her family, and she loved to cook for them. In her early years she liked to water ski, and later continued enjoying the outdoors while camping, fishing and boating with Mac and the boys. She liked to work crossword puzzles and loved to dance.

Brenda departed this life to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 29, 2022 at the age of 78 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Aretta Williamson; two husbands, Raymond Douglas Vaughn and Mac Dean; sons, Raymond Vaughn, Joseph Sherrill and Ray Dean; sister, Edna Wilcox and brother, Needham Leroy Williamson.
