Charlotte Rachel Ferguson was born November 11, 1928 in Wichita, Kansas to Michael David and Lula Effie (Miller) Hayhurst. She was the youngest of thirteen children and enjoyed a large family through the years.

Rachel, as her family and friends called her, was married to Horace E. "Gene" Ferguson. They were blessed with two children, Linda and Rex. The couple loved attending bluegrass festivals and were great fans of Bob Wills. Rachel recalled her father taking her to Cain's Ballroom during its heyday, where Bob Wills often played for dances. At home Rachel loved gardening, both flowers and vegetables and liked quilting.

Rachel departed this life Thursday, July 7, 2022 at her home in Wagoner, Oklahoma at the age of 93 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Ferguson; her son, Rex Ferguson; her mother, Lula Effie Hayhurst; her father, Michael David Hayhurst; her mother-in-law who was like a mother to Rachel, Rosa Ferguson; four brothers and eight sisters.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Moore of the home; a grandson and his wife, Seth William and Brandy Moore of Ozark, Arkansas; brothers-in-law, Norm Walker of California and Hal Ferguson and wife, Karen of Austin, Texas; sister-in-law, Kittie Ferguson of Wagoner, Oklahoma; numerous nieces and nephews, other extended family and friends.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 10 am Tuesday, July 12, 2022 in Elmwood Cemetery in Wagoner, Oklahoma. The Reverend Lisa Sowers will officiate.

Viewing will be Monday from 11 am until 7 pm.
