Obituary

Donal Wray Perry, known by all as Don, was born September 5, 1934, in Summerfield, Oklahoma to Samuel Ernest and Clara Sue (Weatherford) Perry. After attending college Don served in the United States Army during the Korean War. At one time Don was considered the best basketball player in LeFlore County. He continued this sport through his young adult years and loved to follow the OKC Thunder as well as OU sports. His sport of choice later became golf, which he continued to play two or three times a week. While in college Don began his bus driving career for junior college. He was employed by Coors in Boulder, Colorado for a time, later driving for Continental Trailways. It was through his work with Travel Tours in Wagoner that he met his wife, Bea Perry. Together they built a successful business that allowed them to enjoy their love for travel. Following retirement Don and Bea continued their travels and spent most winters in Arizona where they made many friends, and Don could play golf year-round. Don's son Michael remembers him as a good-hearted person, and he will cherish many wonderful memories of time spent together. Don departed this life Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at his home in Wagoner, Oklahoma at the age of 89 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Bea Perry, and an infant grandson. He is survived by three children, Michael Wray Perry of Wagoner, Michelle Kay Perry of Muskogee, and Alan Wray Perry and his wife, Jennifer, of Muskogee; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and extended family and friends. The Celebration of Don's Life will be at 11 am Wednesday, August 28, 2024, in the Chapel at Mallett Funeral Home in Wagoner, Oklahoma. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Wagoner.
