Obituary

Harold Max Meek, Sr. was born January 7, 1942, in Little Chief/Fairfax, Oklahoma to Harold Winston Meek and Elsie Maxine Seward Meek. He grew up in Oklahoma and graduated from Northeastern State in Tahlequah, OK with a bachelor's degree in education. He married Paula Faye Dane on February 24, 1962, and they began a long happy life together.

Harold coached and taught at four (4) Oklahoma High Schools to include Locust Grove, Stillwell, Vinita, and Coweta. He was the line coach for Vinita's 1976 State Runner-Up football team. Harold helped coach Vinita to back-to-back State Wrestling titles in 1982 and 1983. He also helped coach Coweta High School to an additional two (2) state wrestling titles in 1986 and 1993. Harold coached twenty-three (23) wrestlers to individual State Titles. Three (3) of those wrestlers went on to earn All-America Honors in college.

Harold departed this life at his home in Bethesda, Ohio on October 29, 2024. He is proceeded in death by the love of his life, Paula Faye Meek, his parents, Harold Winston Meek and Elsie Maxine Seward Meek and his brother, George B. Meek. He is survived by four children and their spouses, Cynthia Kaye Meek and Tim Postlewaite, Sondra Lynn Meek Palmer and Anthony Palmer, Harold Max Meek, Jr. and Lisa Pirtle Meek, and Larry Don Meek and Kimberly Dawn Cherry Meek.

Harold is also survived by his brother, Jerry Dean Meek and his wife Mary Ann; his sister Mary Lee; 10 Grand Children and 18 Great Grandchildren; along with other relatives and friends.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Pioneer Cemetery in Wagoner, OK. Chaplain Bill Holcomb will be officiating the service. There will be a visitation time Saturday morning from 10:00 to 12:00 at Mallett Funeral Home Chapel.
