IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Brent
Hogan
October 17, 1956 – July 24, 2023
James Brent Hogan, Brent to all who knew him, was born October 17, 1956 in Muskogee, OK to James Calvin and Hazel Ruth (Oliver) Hogan. Brent attended Connors State College following graduation from Porter High School.
He grew up in Porter on the family farm and learned at an early age how hard work and sharp negotiating were the keys to success in life. He was the epitome of hard work and was not afraid of any job. In his farming equipment supply company, Hogan Equipment Company, Brent used his excellent skills at buying, selling and trading, as well as his knowledge of farming. He had customers all over who respect him for his honesty and fair dealing. Many of these customers became longtime friends, and some of them are here today to pay their respects.
Everything Brent did, he did for family, from his parents to siblings, sons and all. He was the rock of the whole family, who were of foremost importance in his life. They depended on him to be the motivator and the problem solver. If anything needed doing, Brent was called first. Even during Brent's last days he was worrying about everyone else and giving instructions to "keep them in line".
He was a dad who was always there for his sons and their families. He would help with anything he could. He and Judy would get in the RV and drive anywhere his kids were participating in an event, no matter where or what kind. The greatest compliment given to Brent was that his sons hope to raise their children just the way he did them.
Brent departed this life Monday, July 24, 2023 in Tulsa, OK, following a hard and valiant fight against illness, at the age of 66 years. Preceding him in death were his paternal grandparents, Hurst and Millie Hogan, his maternal grandparents, Jim and Audrey Oliver and a son, Levi Grooms.
