Otto David Deacon was born October 24, 1959 in Wagoner, OK to Charles Oran and Mae Lee (Sharmacher) Deacon. Following graduation from Wagoner High School Otto attended college. In his younger years Otto worked as an air traffic controller and for Flintco. His life's work was in construction, and everyone knew Otto was a talented and respected contractor who would always strive to do the best job for his customers.
He was very civic minded and donated much of his time to his community. He served on the Mayes County District 2 Water Board and helped develop the Flat Rock Fire Department.
Otto was a true outdoorsman. He liked to golf, deer hunt, fish and garden. He was an organizer Wagoner Outdoor Sportsmen Association which holds the annual Wild Game Dinner.
His special hobby was guns, and he always looked forward to attending the gun shows in Tulsa every year. Most recently Otto was enjoying photography.
Otto could call many people friends; he never forgot anybody and was always interested in how they were doing. His big heart meant he would help anyone in need. His nieces and nephews knew he could be counted on to be there for them, and Otto loved them all dearly.
Otto departed this life early Saturday, November 14, 2020 in Tulsa, OK at the age of 61 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mae Lee Deacon; his wife, Nancy Deacon; brother, Mike Deacon; brother-in-law, David Carr; and his good friend, Tuffy Tuttle.
Those left to cherish his memory include his fiancée, Teresa Ann Newell; brother, Pat Deacon; sister, Linda Carr; nieces and nephews, Jennifer, Leslie, Emily, Charlie, Jeff, Mikel, Andrew, Sara, Amy, Brent and Alisha; his grand-nieces and grand-nephews; his extended family and many friends.
A visitation will be held from 5-7 pm on Wednesday evening.
The funeral service celebrating Otto's life will be at 1 pm Thursday, November 19 at the First Assembly of God in Wagoner. Officiating will be the Reverend Dan French.
Otto will be laid to rest in Elmwood Cemetery in Wagoner. Pallbearers will be Charlie Carr, Jeff Carr, Andrew Deacon, Brent Deacon, Freddie Gardenhire, Phillip Goodman and Jeff Hamilton. Honorary pallbearers will be Nathan Godley, Brad Newell and Johnny Watson.
Masks are required for attendance.
