IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patsy "Gail"
Harris
July 24, 1951 – May 10, 2024
Patsy "Gail" (Baty) Harris was born July 24, 1951, in Granite, Oklahoma, to Eugene Walter Baty and Mildred Elizabeth (Newberry) Baty. She was the second of their four daughters. Gail went home to be with her Lord on Friday, May 10, 2024.
Gail attended Morse Elementary, Monroe Jr. High, and graduated from McLain High School in 1969. She attended NSU after high school and also took classes at several other colleges. She graduated from the University of Tulsa in 1999 with a degree in Elementary Education. Gail taught elementary school in Tulsa Public Schools for 10 years, 2nd grade at Disney Elementary, and 5th grade at Skelly Elementary.
Gail met the love of her life, Donald Ray "Don" Harris, at Tulsa Junior College where he was a student and she was working in the college bookstore. Their wedding was March 30, 1985, and they were married for 39 wonderful years.
Gail loved gardening, especially flowers, and spent hours in the gardens surrounding her home. She also enjoyed literature and creative writing, and especially loved reading and writing poetry. Some of her favorite poems included Wild Geese, The Peace of Wild Things, and The Creation. She loved animals and grew up riding horses whenever she could, and always had pets at home. She especially asked the family to take care of her little cat, Nugget. She loved the Lord and was always involved in several Bible studies at her church, First Baptist of Broken Arrow, and attended Bible Study Fellowship at Asbury. One of the highlights of her life was a group tour she took of Israel and Petra, Jordan, with two of her sisters. She loved seeing the places where Jesus had walked and taught.
Preceding her in death are both parents, Eugene Walter and Mildred Elizabeth Baty; grandparents, Lon N. and Ollie Adeline Newberry; her half-brother, Aubrey Vaughn (Sonny) Baty; son-in-law, Brandon Scott Nation, and brother-in-law, Clifton Smith.
Gail is survived by her husband, Donald Ray "Don" Harris; her children, Myers Nathan Wahnee and his wife, Kim, Lara Nicole Nation, Monte Ray Harris, and step-daughter, Donecia Acuff and her husband, Clint; grandchildren, Madison, Marissa, McKenna, and Macie Nation, Logan and Alexa Wahnee, and Cason and Davin Acuff; sisters, Sandra Smith, Jeanie McKinney and husband, Roger, and Joyce Crouch and husband, Dane; and many nieces and nephews.
