Stanley Earl Day was born September 4, 1938 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Charles Earl Day and Lela (Vestal) Day. Stanley graduated from Tulsa Central high school in Tulsa Oklahoma. He joined the Air National Guard, serving from 1957 to 1958. Stanley joined the Tulsa Fire Department in 1966 and retired after 20 years of dedicated service.
Stan enjoyed many things typical of young boys during his childhood. Some of these included baseball and raising and training his pack of beagle hounds with which he loved to run rabbits. Stan always enjoyed hunting and fishing when he could.
Stan married Darlene Woods in 1958. They had two children, a daughter, Tammy Earlene (Day) Peoples and a son, Bryan Earl Day. The family moved to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and had a dairy farm and hatchery, where many memories were made with the family and the many friends they made during this time.
Later in life Stanley was married to JoJean Jackson, and they moved to White Horn Cove on Fort Gibson Lake. JoJean became Executive Director of Wagoner Area Neighbors in Wagoner. Stanley's helpful nature, earlier shown in his career as a firefighter, soon called to him to volunteer his help, and he received many awards for his service at Wagoner Area Neighbors. He was most proud of the award he received for the most volunteer hours in Wagoner County Retired Senior Volunteer Program. After JoJean passed Stanley became the Executive Director of Wagoner Area Neighbor, and he continued serving the less fortunate of Wagoner County area. Stan especially enjoyed Thanksgiving and Christmas when Wagoner Area Neighbors traditionally provides turkeys and full meals to those in need in the Wagoner County area.
Stanley lived at Whitehorn Cove, where he enjoyed fishing and camping. He joined the Wagoner Senior Center and enjoyed playing cards and meeting new friends. He transferred to the Chouteau Senior and became their president for the next 2 years. Stanley enjoyed making new friends and organizing parties and events that were held at the Chouteau Senior Center. The Halloween parties were always a big hit and a lot of fun. Stanley loved helping people and contributing to the area people.
After the passing of JoJean, Stanley met Nancy (Governor) Day at the Wagoner Senior Center. Stanley and Nancy attend the Lighthouse Church in Wagoner, Oklahoma and loved all the friends, music, and the sermons.
Stanley departed this life on Friday, November 11, 2022 in Wagoner, Oklahoma at the age of 84 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Earl Day and Lela (Vestal) Day, and sisters, Wanda Marie Ramsey and Janet Sue Turner.
He was so thankful for all of his friends and family, and he will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife of the home, Nancy (Governor) Day; daughter, Tammy Earlene (Day) Peoples, her husband, Mike; a son, Bryan Earl Day, his wife, Brenda; a stepson, Richard; a stepdaughter, Sandra; a stepson, Sean; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
